Bellver Castle (Castell de Bellver) in Palma de Mallorca, Majorca, Spain

 

Bellver Castle (Castell de Bellver) is a 14th century Gothic sytle castle located  on a hill overlooking Palma Bay, 3 km northwest of Palma de Mallorca, 18 km. from Magaluf. It is one of the most popular landmarks in Palma and Majorca. It is one of the most beautiful castles in Europe.

Bellver Castle was constructed by the order of King Jaime II. It was converted into a mint in the 19th century. The circular structure of the castle is outstanding. The castle has three towers and a keep divided over four storeys. There is a circular bailey over two storeys and a patio built over a well inside the castle. There is a also chapel on the second floor.

 

Travelers may get to the castle by car, taxi or taking a bus to Placa Gomila and climbing up through the pine woods above Carrer de Bellver and passing a chapel on the way. The Castle is open every day.
