La Almudaina Royal Palace (Palau de L’Alumndaina - Palacio Real de la Almudaina) in Palma de Mallorca, Majorca, Spain

 

La Almudaina Royal Palace (Palau de L’Alumndaina - Palacio Real de la Almudaina) is the Alcazar of Palma de Mallorca, situated  on the opposite side of the La Seu Cathedral overlooking the Palma Bay in Palma de Mallorca, 18 km. from Magaluf. It is one of the most popular landmarks in Palma and Majorca.

La Almudaina Palace was firstly built as an Arabian Fortress and than turned into a royal residence in the early 14th century. It was residence of the Majorca kingdom during the era of Jaime I, Sancho I and Jaime II. It continued its place until it became the part of the kingdom of Aragon under Pedro IV. The castle at the palace is the Muslim fortress constructed from 1281. The palace has a rectangular tower, a hall, Royal Chapel and courtyards.
